Description:
Glipizide is an anti-diabetic drug (sulfonylurea-type) used along with a proper diet and exercise program to control high blood sugar. It is used in patients with type 2 diabetes (non-insulin-dependent diabetes).Glipizide is a synthetic sulfonylurea that is used to treat diabetes mellitus, which is a non-insulin dependent diabetes commonly occurring in adults (and referred to as adult-onset or type II diabetes). Glipizide lowers the sugar level in the blood by stimulating the release of by the pancreas. Glipizide is used to treat diabetes (high blood sugar) in patients who require little or no injectable insulin. It is used in conjunction with a special diet and exercise.
